Peter Moody, a PhD student in East Asian Languages and Cultures and in History at Columbia University, was quoted in the July 10, 2017 Vice News article “North Korea’s Secret Weapon is Terrible Synth Pop.” The article explores how North Korea uses popular music as propaganda.
“I think there’s a wide range of how much people buy into the propaganda,” said Moody. “Kim Il Sung was much more esteemed than Kim Jong-il, but it’s very difficult to say how people feel because very little information gets out.”
