Greater China

Greater China

The Weatherhead East Asian Institute is home to over 30 faculty and research scholars of China from across the disciplines of anthropology, business, history, law, literature, political science, social work, and urban planning, among others. Each year, guests from academia, government, the nonprofit sector, and the arts are invited to speak at public events and workshops addressing the history, politics, economics, and culture of the greater China region.

Additionally, the Institute supports undergraduate and graduate research as well as publications about the region and works closely with affiliates such as Columbia Global Centers | Beijing, the Columbia-Harvard China and the World Program, the Center for Chinese Legal Studies, the China Center for Social Policy, the Center for US-China Arts Exchange, the Center on Chinese Education, and others. Through its Master of Arts in Regional Studies - East Asia program, the Institute provides graduate students the opportunity to take courses on a wide variety of topics concerning mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
