Joseph E Hotung Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The Weatherhead East Asian Institute (WEAI) invites applications for the Joseph E Hotung Postdoctoral Research Fellowship for academic year 2021-2022.

WEAI seeks scholars who study Modern China from any discipline within the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. The fellow will teach two courses directed at advanced undergraduate and M.A. students during their appointment as well as pursue his or her own research. He or she will participate in collaborative projects with other WEAI scholars, staff and students, and be an active participant in day-to-day WEAI programs and events.

The appointment will cover a 12-month period beginning September 1, 2021, ending August 31, 2022. The position comes with shared office space and access to the libraries and resources of Columbia University. The incumbent is eligible for benefits, including health and dental.

  • At the time of application, applicants must be enrolled in any department within Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
  • Applicants must have completed all Ph.D. degree requirements (dissertation completed and filed) before August 31, 2021.

Awards will be announced no later than June 1, 2021. Acceptance of award is due no later than June 8, 2021.
