Shiyu Lin, journalist and author of an oral history of Dr. Gao; director of a documentary of Gao

Andrew Nathan, who took care of Dr. Gao’s practical affairs while she lived in exile in NYC

Wenchi Yu, Fellow, Harvard Kennedy School, Rajawali Foundation Institute for Asia

The event marks the publication of The Illustrated Biography of Gao Yaojie. Dr. Gao was a celebrated AIDS activist who lived the last 13 years of her life in exile in New York City. During part of that time she was a visiting scholar at Columbia. Speakers will talk about various phases of her life; the practical and symbolic importance of her work; and her legacy.

This event is hosted by the Weatherhead East Asian Institute.
