Urban high rises and technology dominate discussions about the Chinese economy, but many of the salient features of the Chinese economy, such as overcapacity and surging exports, have roots in rural China. This talk traces how developments in rural China have shaped China’s economic model, its growth patterns, and its growth prospects.

This event is hosted by the Weatherhead East Asian Institute.
