In his previous life, he was her husband. In this life, he is her grandson. He is the same person. In her previous life, she was his wife. In this life, she is his grandmother. She is the same person. They live under the same roof.This film shows the real life story of a Tibetan nomad family, whose head of the family was reincarnated within the same household and leads two different lives with his “wife.” His wife cares for him just as before, but there are also voices of dissent. In the new life in front of him, he feels lost but he also has his own voice. This year, their combined age is one hundred years old.
About the speakers:
Dukar Tserang is an independent filmmaker, sound director, composer, screenwriter, and director. He graduated from Beijing Film Academy, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Tibetan Literature at Northwest Nationalities University in Lanzhou. He is Pema Tseden’s film partner and has been involved in the making of award-winning Tibetan films and theatrical movies throughout China. He established his own studio, SoundFilm.
Nelson Walker has made numerous films including iThemba|Hope (Sundance Channel, 2005), LUMO (PBS/P.O.V. 2007, Student Academy Award® Winner), and Summer Pasture (PBS/Independent Lens 2012), which won a Peabody Award. Most recently, Nelson was one of the Directors along with the late, great Albert Maysles of the feature documentary IN TRANSIT (Winner, Special Jury Mention, Tribeca Film Festival 2015). Nelson is a graduate of Brown University and holds an MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University.
