October 23, 2020

WEAI Professor Lien-Hang Nguyen discussed Vietnamese-Americans and the US election in interviews with BBC World News America Program and Vietnam's News Agency weekly TV program, Thế giới 360 độ on October 23.

Professor Nguyen also discussed the election in a South China Morning Post article titled "US election: Vietnamese-Americans prefer Trump to Biden — and the president has fans in Vietnam too," There is "no monolithic Vietnamese-American vote," Nguyen said. Voters' motivations depend on many factors, including age, socioeconomic status, gender, and education background. "Without looking at polls and census data, my guess is that the younger generation of Vietnamese-Americans are to the left of the political spectrum [compared with] their parents and grandparents."
