Call for Papers for The Consortium of African and Asian Studies' (CAAS) Annual Symposium

July 11, 2022

The Consortium of African and Asian Studies (CAAS) will hold its Twelfth Annual Symposium on Wednesday-Thursday, October 26-27, 2022, at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUSF) via ZOOM.  Attached here is a Call for Papers for Columbia faculty and graduate students who wish to participate.  The theme this year is “Resilience: Recovery in the Post-Pandemic World,” a topic broad enough to cover nearly a wide range of topics.  All disciplines are welcome.   The deadline for applications is Friday, September 23, 2022.

We especially encourage graduate students in all disciplines and schools to submit proposals. Please see the attached Call for Papers for details, and note that this year the applications are to be sent (combined as a PDF) to [email protected].  The deadline for submission is Friday, September 23, 2022.

Two notes to applicants: 1) European and Asian members of the consortium include what we call the Middle East in their definition of Asian and African studies; and 2) While there is no established university funding for travel, in past years nearly all the Columbia students managed to get financial support from a combination of their departments, institutes, and/or schools.
