A Columbia delegation of WEAI's Professor Lien-Hang Nguyen, Director of the Vietnamese language program at Columbia Chung Phuong Nguyen; adjunct lecturer Vinh Quoc Nguyen; and WEAI Fulbright scholar Minh Quang Pham met with Vietnamese Prime Minister PHAM Minh Chinh at a recent ceremony hosted by Vietnam's UN ambassador, DANG Hoang Giang.
At the event, the Prime Minister, who met with US President Joe Biden last week and is touring the country during his visit, spoke with Vietnamese academics and students in the New York City area. He invited Professor Nguyen to give brief comments about Vietnamese Studies at Columbia. Professor Nguyen introduced Columbia faculty and spoke about our objective to build upon Vietnamese Studies at Columbia and WEAI, and our upcoming 2 conferences in Hanoi and HCMC.
The private ceremony was attended by students from Vietnam in the greater New York City area from the Vietnamese Students Association of New York.
