Job Opening: Program Coordinator - Events

The Weatherhead East Asian Institute is looking for a full time Events Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Weatherhead East Asian Institute (WEAI) at Columbia University, the incumbent will manage the Institute’s Events & Programming Office.  
 

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Administers events and programming (focusing on all regions except for Korea) through all stages—from concept to after-action event reporting. In consultation with faculty and senior staff, the incumbent plans, coordinates, and implements WEAI events including lectures, workshops, conferences, and overseas symposia in both in-person and digital formats. Specifically, the incumbent:
    • Meets with faculty members to review event proposals and budgets;
    • Releases requests for event proposals and coordinate with faculty committees to evaluate program submissions;
    • Corresponds with Columbia faculty, staff, and external speakers to set program dates, budgets, and design;
    • Manages all event logistics, from travel arrangements to interpreter services, needed for programs;
    • Coordinates with the WEAI Communications Officer to publicize events online and across campus;
    • Executes programs day-of and supervise volunteers, if needed, to staff programs;
    • Completes follow-up tasks including billing, tracking, and reporting.
  • Provides guidance and training to faculty, staff, and students regarding events management at Columbia. 
  • Supervises and assign work to student assistants.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree and/or its equivalent is required. Must have minimum 2 years related experience; prior events experience strongly preferred. Familiarity with, and interest in, East and Southeast Asia preferred. Must have superior analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
