The Reed Essay Contest Announcement and Call for Visual Essay Submissions

A winner has been selected for the Spring 2021 The Reed Essay Contest. The Institute congratulates Joseph Nguyen on his winning essay titled "Race and Nation in Contemporary East Asia." The essay will be featured in the next issue of The Reed.

WEAI is currently seeking visual essay submissions from Columbia and Barnard students at any level addressing the theme: "Race, Nation, and Identity." 

Photos or artwork should be high-resolution and the accompanying essay should be between 200-800 words long. Preference will be given to visual essays that approach the question from an Asia angle. The applicant whose submission is selected will receive a $150 prize and be featured in The Reed. *No prize/honorarium payment is offered for submissions outside the student essay contest and visual essay contest.
