SOF/Heyman Center Fellow Applications for Faculty Due October 3

The Heyman Center has extended its deadline for faculty Fellowships to October 3.

Funded by the Office of the Executive Vice-President of the Arts & Sciences, the Heyman Center Fellowships provide four junior and four senior Columbia faculty with course relief during the academic year. These fellowships allow faculty to reduce their teaching loads to a minimum of one course per semester during the award year in order to conduct research and to participate in a regular weekly seminar, chaired by the Heyman Fellows Seminar Director (a member of the Governing Board of the Society of Fellows and Heyman Center for the Humanities). While individual sessions of the seminar may be dedicated to the discussion of a common reading or a guest presentation (on topics such as podcasting as a scholarly medium or writing for public audiences), the bulk of the sessions will be devoted to the work-in-progress of the participants. Fellows will present 25-35 pages of writing once during the fellowship year and act as lead respondent in another session.

Four post-MPhil graduate students will also be appointed as Heyman Fellows and will receive a $5,000 research allowance for their participation.

Faculty fellowships are open to all Columbia and Barnard tenured and tenure-track faculty in fields that align with the SOF/Heyman mission. 2023-2024 due date: October 3, 2022.

Graduate fellowships are open to Columbia post-MPhil graduate students in fields that align with the SOF/Heyman mission. 2023-2024 due date: December 15, 2022.
