In 2019 the Weatherhead East Asian Institute (WEAI) marked 70 years of groundbreaking scholarship on East and Southeast Asia. As a dynamic hub for research, teaching, and public programming on the region, the Institute brought together scholars from across the academy with a year of initiatives and events that honored the Institute’s founding, celebrated the achievements of the past seven decades, and explored new directions for the study of East and Southeast Asia.
